UKCA (Paphos) 4x4 Group - Contact George Bates 99 246 625
The group was formed in February 2002, and holds 9 runs per year. We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at a pre-determined venue, and drive off road across the many tracks available to us, finishing at a Taverna, where lunch has been booked by the leader of the day.
We run a treasure hunt in January, which is open to all members of the U.K.C.A. and guests, and, because of the heat and dust in July/August, one member hosts a BBQ, and another organizes a meal out, usually in the evening, but always on the 3rd Tues. Our life president is Mr. George Bates, and the 2 co-ordinaters are; John Burrells (99847413) and John Douglas (99964831). Membership is predominately U.K.C.A. members, but non -members are welcome as guests, and there is no restriction to the number of guests in members’ vehicles. Membership is free. All the drivers take it in turns to organize and lead the runs. Safety is paramount, and all vehicles are required to carry a tow rope and shovel with them on the day in addition to a small first aid kit and emergency triangle which are legal requirements. Some members also carry portable GPS (global positioning system) in case of a real emergency. All the routes are aimed at being testing, interesting but safe, as these vehicles are all used on a daily basis by their owners. If you are interested in coming out with us, either in your own 4x4 or hitching a lift with someone, please contact one of the co-coordinators. There is a 4x4 notice board in the clubhouse, in the restaurant area, on the far right hand side, where details of the next run/event are posted. We will be delighted to meet you, and introduce you to this wonderful area of Cyprus that we live in. Enjoy the video, taken by one of our guests, and hope to see you soon. John Burrells |
